Biographical history
Jean Young (Rankin) Mitchell (1904-2001) wrote "Memory Trails", a history of her family in the south-west Manitoba area. She was born in Oakner, Manitoba and died in Carberry, Manitoba. Her parents Isobel and George Rankin and siblings were Phyllis, John, Mabel, Esther, and Charles. She married Dougal Roy Mitchell ([ca.19-?]-1983) of Ingelow in 1926 and they had children Ken, Lloyd, Sheila, and Beryl. She farmed in the areas around Brookdale (1926-1933) and Ingelow (1933-1983) after marriage, moving to Brookdale in 1983, and to Carberry in 1995. Mitchell had been educated at Oakner and Hamiota schools, and in 1922-1923 at Brandon Normal School. She taught at Ingelow, and was a member of the Brookdale United Church choir for forty years.
