Biographical history
Jean Bancroft (nee Pike) was born in Winnipeg on December 30, 1910. She married Fred Bancroft in 1935 and moved to Saskatoon where their two children, Jane and Michael were born. She was involved in St. Aidan's Anglican Church as part of the choir; a part -time organist; leader of the Junior Auxiliary; member of the WA; leader of the Prayer Group and as a contributing writer to St. Aidan's "Window". She was also a member of the Manitoba Naturalist History Society and the Saskatchewan Natural History Society and won awards for her research. She died on August 23, 2000.
Custodial history
The records of Jean Bancroft came to the Diocesan archives from the donor in 1996.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of correspondence (1956 - 1990) that includes a note from JO Anderson, a note of thanks from W Barfoot, two letters of thanks from Jim Allen at Peguis, and one from Bishop Chandu Ray (Karachi)and includes her obituary (2000); and orders of service from various churches (1947 - 1970) See key word list.
