Administrative history

St James Anglican Church, also known as the Gordon Mission, is located in Jackhead, on the west side of Lake Winnipeg, 150 miles north of Winnipeg. Jeremiah Johnstone served the area before 1887 and while there, built a large log house. He was succeeded by The Rev James Settee and The Rev Henry Cochrane, who served as missionary there from 1896-1898, when the Gordon Mission first appears in the Synod Journal. A chapel was also built during Henry Cochrane's tenure. All Saints Anglican Church in Peguis was moved to Jackhead and renamed St James, in 1964. The Rev Ted Scott, priest-in-charge at the time, supervised the move and the required renovations. Regular services have been sporadic for most of its history. Since 1965, St James, Jackhead has been associated with the Hodgson-Peguis group.
