Biographical history
John Gordon "Jack" Magee (1925-1999) was born on September 10, 1925 in the Rural Municipality of Whitehead, Manitoba. His parents were Arthur Ruglas(s) Magee (1892-1974) and Sarah Alice Magee (nee Young) (-1970). Jack attended Carroll Consolidated School in Alexander, Manitoba, and Souris Collegiate in Souris, Manitoba. During World War Two, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy. Following the war, he married Agnes Marie Doucette on May 16, 1953 in Brandon, Manitoba. They had two children. Jack's career took him from San Antonio Gold Mines in Bissett, Manitoba, to McDowell and Doke Ltd., Plains Western Gas, and the Department of National Defence at Canadian Forces Base Shilo, Manitoba. Jack was a member of numerous fraternal organizations in Brandon. He died on April 10, 1999.

Arthur Ruglas(s) Magee was a Presbyterian farmer born in Kemnay, Manitoba on either July 21, 1892, as stated in his obituary, or December 22, 1896, as stated in government records (see "Sources"). During World War One, he served with Unit 10 MD, 1st Depot Battalion, Manitoba Regiment, which was organized to reinforce other battalions in Canada that, in turn, reinforced the Canadian Reserve Battalions in England. Magee was married to Sarah Alice Young ( -1970); they had four children including John Gordon "Jack" Magee, who donated photos to Daly House Museum in Brandon, Manitoba in 1986. Arthur Magee died on December 11, 1974 in Souris, Manitoba at age 82.

The collection contains a photograph of World War One soldiers standing at attention, a photograph of World War One soldiers marching in a parade, a memorial program for the death of Queen Victoria, a program for the film "Birth of a Nation," and an academic calendar for Clark Hall, the girls' residence at Brandon College.
