Scope and content

Oral History interview with Alden Wiebe, conducted by Karen Clements in 2017 (58mm08ss).

Topics include: activism through his personal experience with mental illness and homelessness, discrimination against people who are homeless especially when they try to access mental health services. eventually did find a psychiatric nurse and a doctor at a city emergency room who listened, gave him hope, and arranged treatment and services. Went on to volunteer work in the social service area and he took a number of courses to improve his ability to help others. Started doing public speaking, primarily to health care professionals and health care managers about the experience of people who are homeless and trying to access services. He also serves on a number of boards and has a radio show dedicated to issues related to homelessness.
