Records described as part of this fonds date from 1953 to 1999 and include records documenting the acts of the Board of Trustees such as minutes and reports, policy manuals and planning documents, and correspondence. Also described as part of this fonds are records pertaining to museum operations including items pertaining to museum executive management, financial management, collections management, exhibit planning, educational programming, marketing and publicity, and membership and fundraising activities.
Items consist of 3 copies of a black and white photograph of guests at the ball, on one copy of which Mrs. Dimock has indicated her location when the photograph was taken. Also found here are invitations to the opening of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Lieutenant-Governor's Ball and a newspaper clipping describing the events.
Items consist of 17 colour photographs featuring Mrs. Gordon's hats, 3 depicting Mrs. Gordon wearing donated items, as well as photocopies of supporting documentary materials supplied by the maker of the hats, Milliner E. L. Jamon.
The fonds consists of the full Indigenous ceremonial regalia worn by Kelly Houle while dancing in powwows and in other ceremony. The regalia includes a blue jingle dress, multi-coloured hair ribbons, leather hide moccasins, a black leather belt, beaded flower earrings, a beaded feather clasp or brooch, and beaded leather tiara that reads "18th International Two-Spirit Princess." In an oral history interview, Houle claimed that she had a vision of dancing in a jingle dress and acquired the regalia shortly thereafter following a consultation with an Elder. She referred to the dress as a "healing dress" in this interview.
Oral histories with twelve individuals who identify as Two-Spirit conducted at the 31st Annual International Two-Spirit Gathering on August 4-5, 2018 at the Sandy Saulteaux Spiritual Centre near Beausejour, Manitoba. Interviewers also identified as Two-Spirit. Training and equipment provided by the Oral History Centre with financial support from grants received by the University of Winnipeg Archives. Interview topics pertain to the Two-Spirit journeys and life experiences of these individuals. One interview was later destroyed at the request of the interviewee.
This fonds consists of records related to the University of Winnipeg’s sports teams in men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball, the Wesmen; as well as the University of Winnipeg’s Athletic Department, facilities, and staff. Many of the records were generated by the University of Winnipeg, documenting its seasonal teams and games or invitational tournaments – photographs, programs, posters, booklets, brochures, media reports, correspondence, and video recordings. Other similar records were generated by the sports governing bodies, such as U Sports (previously Canadian Interuniversity Sport Association or Canadian Interuniversity Sport). The Athletic Department also collected newspaper or magazine articles related to the Wesmen or the University of Winnipeg from a variety of publications. The records are divided into eight series. The first is comprised of those newspaper clippings. The second relates to the Wesmen Classic, the iconic annual invitational tournament held in Winnipeg with teams from across Canada. The third relates to the annual activities of the Wesmen and the Athletic Department: primarily the seasonal teams and games through sports governing bodies, but including other invitational tournaments and the Athletic Department’s staff and facilities. The fourth series relates to the planning and execution of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport basketball championships, which were hosted by the University of Winnipeg in 2004 and 2005. The fifth series is comprised of a variety of photographs. The sixth series is comprised of posters produced by the University for its annual Wesmen teams and tournaments. The seventh series contains several video recordings of Wesmen games or interviews with Wesmen players and staff. Finally, the eighth series contains several miscellaneous objects related to the Wesmen or the University’s athletic history.
Fonds consists of announcements, match results, membership lists, financial records, reports of the United College Inter-house Curling League, 1959-1961, and announcements and draws for the 1959-1960 season of the University of Manitoba Intramural Curling League.
The fonds consists of three parts: a manuscript collection, a photograph collection, and a tape collection. The manuscripts include correspondence, radio and television programme proposals, published articles, manuscripts and a personal file. The photograph collection features photographs from Cyprus, Egypt, rural Manitoba, Arctic Canada, Greenland and Germany. The tape collection consists of over 500 recorded interviews Holting conducted between 1957 and 1987. A major focus of his interviews is with the natives of Northern Manitoba and the Canadian Inuit. Also included are interviews with several Manitoba politicians and business people.
