Brandon Business and Professional Women's Club fonds

The fonds contains three small scrapbooks, which cover the years 1932-1939, 1939-1949, and 1950-1959, respectively. The scrapbooks contain newpaper clippings from the Brandon Sun, the Winnipeg Free Press, and the Flin Flon Daily Miner. The scrapbooks also contain exhibition and meeting programs from the Brandon Club. Fonds also contains meeting minutes for the years 1932-1972.

Rathwell Women's Institute Collection

This is a small collection, consisting of the minutes of the group's meetings, including member lists and financial records, from 1939-1966. There is also a pamphlet called "The Story of the Women's Institutes of Manitoba 1910-1934" written by Mrs. H.M. Speechley "in loving and honoured memory of Mrs. David Watt." The collection also includes a book by Cicely McCall called "Women's Institutes." The inscription in the book reads, "To the members of the Rathwell Women's Institute with all good wishes from the members at Amberley, Sussex, Christmas 1943."

This collection has been artificially created and consists of miscellaneous newspaper and magazine clippings, handbooks, newsletters, photos and song sheets collected by various unknown Manitoba Women's Institute branches. Some newletters included in the collection are "Institute News" from the Manitoba Women's Institute, "National Farm Forum Guide", "Federated News" from the Federated Women's Institute of Canada and "The Country Woman" from Associated Women of the World. The newspaper clippings in the collection relate to Women's Institute branches around Manitoba and the rest of Canada.

Georges-Antoine Belcourt

Le fonds comprend des copies de lettres de Georges-Antoine Belcourt et le manuscrit de son dictionnaire de la langue des Sauteux (Ojibwa ou Anishinabe) de près de milles pages. Le dictionnaire comprend une préface, des conventions alphabétiques et de prononciation, une liste d'abréviations suivies des entrées pour chaque mot. Le dictionnaire ne contient que la partie français-sauteux. Pour cette raison, Belcourt donne tous les détails aux mots sauteux qui auraient servi dans la partie sauteux-français. Dans sa préface, Belcourt expliquait comment il importait de donner pour les mots sauteux, le mot radical, la racine, la particule compositive et l'étymologie complète des mots avec des exemples à l'appui. Ceci explique le détail compris dans chacune des entrées. Ce dictionnaire est unique en son genre. Les lettres sont des copies de lettres conservées aux archives de l'archevêché de Montréal, étant surtout des lettres de Belcourt à Mgr Ignace Bourget et des copies de lettres conservées aux archives de l'archevêché de Québec, étant surtout des lettres de Belcourt à Charles-Félix Cazeau ou à Mgr Joseph Signay. Les copies de lettres sont soit des photocopies, des transcriptions ou des copies dactylographiées à partir des transcriptions. Elles documentent l'activité missionnaire de Belcourt et donnent de nombreux renseignements sur la vie et la culture des Sauteux (Ojibwa ou Anishinabe), des Métis et des habitants de la Rivière-Rouge.

Fonds consists of a booklet on Manitoba's Diamond Jubilee (1930), a Dominion Chatauqua programme, a song about the Sidney baseball team, news clippings, scrapbooks of Williams' columns. Of special note is correspondence on, and histories of Sidney and the Harte district of Manitoba, the latter written with John Mack. One history was of 1891 written by Alida M. (James) Davies (1959). The history of the Harte district was written by John Mack in 1967. Nine charts by M. Williams depict the Moorehead/Muirhead families. Of note is a Chatauqua programme (1924) and a song sheet. The one colour and 16 black and white photographs show Sidney School (1909, 1920, 1945-1946, 1953), sports teams, Carberry events and people, threshing outfits.

Fonds consists of the photographs depicting the visual history of the town of Carberry, Manitoba, and the Rural Municipality of North Cypress. There are 6715 black and white photographs, 58 colour photographs, 511 black and white negatives, 7 colour negatives, and 6 colour slides. Of note is a photo of the Carberry Epworth League (1900). Textual material consists of ten pamphlets of the Carberry Curling Bonspiel (1927-1939 not inclusive), volumes of newspapers (1903, 1858, 1975-2007 inclusive), "Progressive Carberry and North Cypress" - a 1913 booklet on history of Carberry, Brookdale, Wellwood, Oberon, Edrans, Ingelow, Petrel, Harte, Gregg, and Fairview. Also copies of posters and other job printing done by the newspaper circa 1950-5. 2006.06 consists of a bound photocopied copy of the fragile and restricted 1903 Holiday Number of the Carberry News. 2011.06 consists of a large book of printing samples dating from the early 1900's available from the newspaper office, plus copies of books entitled "The Carberry Plains: 75 Years of Progress"; "Around the Cracker Barrell"; "Olmstead Family Reunion: First Reunion, Carberry, Manitoba-1983;" "Wartime Souvenir of Carberry"; "Brookdale Community 1878-1967"; "Kerfoot United Church Diamond Anniversary"; "Pioneers of New Brunswick" all printed by the Carberry News-Express, and a book entitled "The Story of Manitoba's Weekly Newspapers" by Major A.M. Pratt.
