Alexander Baran fonds

The 2005 accession consists of biographical information, correspondence, research material from the Vatican, Viennese, Czech, and Hungarian Archives (photocopies), research material on Carpatho-Ukraine (Subcarpathia) region, material on his courses at the University of Manitoba, and UVAN (Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Sciences) documentation. The tape collection consists of 8 audio-cassettes featuring recordings of Andrej Sakharov's visit to Winnipeg on February 17, 1989, audio recordings of Ukrainian-Canadian Conferences and Ukrainian visitors to Winnipeg. The 2008 accession consists of Reverend Baran's identification documents, education documents, travel documents, material on his awards and honors, his father's (Viktor Baran) diary, and a photograph collection consisting of 208 photographs depicting his childhood and 50 years of priesthood. Also included is a CD containing digital reproductions of items in the fonds.

The fonds consists of Michael Kinnear's study titled Liberal Seceders, his research material, and Manitoba, Saskatchewan poll maps from Federal, Civic and Provicial Elections.

The 2007 accrual consists of eight series. They include British Liberal seceders research material, Kinnear's notes on Liberal seceders, Kinnear's notes while a student at Oxford, research material, Kinnear articles, pamphlets, maps of the United States, election buttons, and banners.

The 2009 accrual consists of three series. They include Manitoba election material, electronic records (EL 19), and maps (MC 27).

In total, the map collection consists of 19 maps, the electronic records collection consists of 29 3.5" computer disckettes, and the microform collection (MF 28) consists of 3 reels of microfilm.

Ce fonds contient une lettre signée par Pierre Gaultier de La Vérendrye adressée à L. Hamelin et datée du 23 février 1735. La lettre contient une reproduction manuscrite d'une lettre du général de Beauharnois datée du 30 mai 1734 et reçue par La Vérendrye selon laquelle 'les intéressés du poste, qui avaient commencé en 1731 pour trois ans, pourraient continuer un an encore et que leur temps serait alors fini' (Champagne 1968, p.164-165) . La Vérendrye, par l'entremise de cette lettre, fait part de sa réaction face à l'ultimatum qu'il a reçu concernant ses explorations dans l'ouest.

The fonds is comprised of two accessions. The first contains a photograph album with photos, newspaper clippings, programs from school events in the 1930s and other documents, as well as loose photographs and baby books for T.G. and Lillian Hamilton's twins, Arthur Lamont (1915-1918) and James Drummond (1915-1980). It also includes the Forrester family prayer book (printed in 1771). The second accession derives from Lillian Hamilton and James D. Hamilton’s personal records, including psychical research publications, photographs and files pertaining to some of T.G. Hamilton’s psychic experiments.

Pierre Raymond

Ce fonds documente la famille et le travail de l'abbé Pierre Raymond. On y retrouve d'anciens documents de famille provenant principalement de la paroisse de Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec. Il y a aussi une collection de tous les écrits de la mère de Pierre Raymond, Alice Gagnon, qui signait souvent les articles qu'elle écrivait pour La Liberté et le Patriote sous le pseudonyme "Jacqueline des Érables". Ses écrits concernent généralement la place et le rôle de la femme canadienne-française dans le monde "moderne". Les textes des causeries qu'elle a donnée au poste de radio CKSB se trouvent aussi dans ce fonds. L'abbé Raymond a aussi collectionné un grand nombre de lettres de son oncle Louis-Philippe Gagnon concernant son travail et sa vie personnelle. Dans ce fonds, on retrouve aussi un grand nombre de notes de cours prises par l'abbé Pierre Raymond au cours de ses études ainsi que quelques documents sur certaines paroisses où il a travaillé comme, par exemple, Saint-Adolphe et Sainte-Marie. L'abbé Raymond a aussi conservé une série de sermons qu'il a écrit au cours de sa carrière de curé allant de 1948 à 1994. On y retrouve aussi sa correspondance et ses écrits en tant que curé et en tant que visiteur des écoles. C'est d'ailleurs à ce titre que l'abbé Raymond a pu amasser une importante documentation sur l'éducation française au Manitoba au cours des années 1950 et 1960. On y retrouve d'ailleurs les rapports qu'il a fait sur plusieurs écoles francophones de la province alors qu'il travaillait pour l'Association d'éducation des Canadiens-français du Manitoba (AECFM). Ainsi, ce fonds documente l'histoire des familles Raymond et Gagnon au Manitoba ainsi que l'histoire de l'éducation francophone et de l'Église catholique dans la province.
