Air Canada Pension Scrapbook Collection

The Pension Scrapbook was a newsletter published by Air Canada that was devoted to the effective development and administration of pension plans. The newsletter ceased publication in 1978.

The collection consists of chronologically bound copies of the Pension Scrapbook newsletters published by Air Canada between 1959 and 1978.

Henry Mills Alden fonds

The fonds consists of a letter written by Henry Mills Alden to Julian Ralph on June 23, 1890. The letter is in regard to Julian Ralph writing articles about the Northwest Pacific coast for Harper's Magazine, and the possibility of later publishing a number of articles in book form.

The fonds consists primarily of a draft of his then unpublished treatise, Responses of the Organism to Stimulation. There are also reprints of Allen's articles and lecture notes. MSS SC 184 consists of letters from Dr. Allen to Dr. Ross Mitchell, as well as the letters' enclosures.

The fonds consists of several of her diaries and travel books, correspondence, news clippings, and drafts of her published work. There is material about the Allen and Harper families with drafts and copies of articles by her father, Dr. Frank Allen. Her large collection of nature slides has also been willed to the University of Manitoba.

Viola Bailey fonds

The fonds consists of two folders. Folder 1 consists of copies of Viola Bailey's teaching contract with the School District of Winnipeg Number One, her teaching certificate, and her pay receipt from the school division for the first half of 1927. Original copies of Bailey's class lists and grades from her grade three class at David Livingstone School are also in folder 1. Folder 2 consists of two copies of A Class and Field Book for Normal School Students, published in 1915 by The Copp, Clark Company. This workbook contained proper pedagogical procedure for students intending to become teachers.

The collection contains the files, reports, correspondence, maps, and pamphlets that Birse created and collected throughout his life. Of special interest are his diaries and work journals, mineral claims, company reports, and approximately 150 photographs of various geological expeditions in northern Manitoba from 1924 to 1937.
