Series 2: Books and Local Publications

This series contains books and small publications pertaining to the City of Brandon, its history, and the history of Manitoba. The collection includes Henderson’s Directories for Brandon, business guides, and history books. Topics covered in the history books include Brandon House, the development of the City of Brandon, Brandon College, Brandon community groups and events, the Oakland municipality, the Second World War, and pioneer stories from across Manitoba. Small local publications include Brandon Collegiate Institute yearbooks and Brandon Wheat Kings hockey yearbooks and programs.

Series 3: Miscellaneous Documents

This series contains Brandon Sun newspaper clippings, framed documents, maps, and other miscellaneous documents. Topics of newspaper clippings include the Brandon College, Dr. Robert Harvey, and Roy Brown. There are also framed newspaper advertisements for H.R. Hoffman Limited. Other documents in the series include tickets for Brandon events, a write-up and poster about a Criddle Farm exhibit, and photocopies of passenger tickets from the Empress of Ireland.

Insurance Plan of Brandon Manitoba produced by Chas E. Goad, Civil Engineer. The plan contains 43 maps of Brandon Streets marking the locations and outlines of businesses, blocks, buildings, clubs, churches, colleges, convents, schools, firms, factories, warehouses, hotels, hospitals, public buildings, railway depots, theatres, and halls between 1910 and 1913.

The collection is made up of material accumulated by the City of Brandon and pertains primarily to the city's infrastructure. The majority of the collection consists of photographs. Also included are prints, one painting, and drawings. There are photographs of businesses, city streets, significant buildings, parks, sports teams, and important people. Significant buildings include hotels, stores, schools, the old City Hall, the fire hall, and the Court House. Important individuals in these photographs include mayors of Brandon, members of the British Royal family, and multiple Governor Generals of Canada. There are also photographs of groups such as the fire department, the police department, city councils, and other citizen organizations. Along with the photographs there is a disc containing digital copies for the pictures of Brandon's mayors. There are a number of framed documents included in this collection. These include certificates, proclamations, and awards of merit presented to the City of Brandon. Also found in this collection are two guest books from Manitoba's Centennial celebration, city plaques, and sketches for city planning. There is one commemorative dish held in a frame, picturing the old city hall and opera house. Each item in the collection in described in further detail at the individual level.
