Johann Kroeker fonds

This fonds consists of eight photographs primarily of the activities of Mennonite conscientious objectors in the forestry service in the Asov region of Imperial Russia around 1915 where Johann Kroeker served. The photos provide information on the activities, tools and environment in which the alternative to military service took place.

Cornelius Krause fonds

This collection consists of copies of the photos collected by Cornelius Krause from a Mexican land agent that traveled with Krause and other Mennonite delegates from Manitoba and Saskatchewan who were investigating the possibility of the migration of a group of Mennonites from Canada to Mexico and photos taken by Cornelius Krause himself while investigating Mexico as a possible country to which a group of Manitoba and Saskatchewan Mennonites could move. The photos which Krause took himself show people and places visited on the trip in Mexico (Collection 592). The photos by the land agent (Collection 590) taken before the arrival of the Mennonite delegation and during their visit to Mexico. The photos were taken to encourage the Mennonites to move to Mexico. They show road and railway construction, wide open wild areas, places where there was water, villages, homes, and fields successfully developed by the Old Colony and Sommerfeld Mennonites who had moved to Mexico in 1922.

Katharina Thiessen fonds

This fonds consists of Dr. Thiessen's medical text books and notebooks with her own recipes and treatments. Also included are two large sketches of Katharina and Abraham Thiessen, and research about Dr. Thiessen by Shirley Bergen. This material is very unique as it not only some of the earliest medical materials of the southern Manitoba Mennonites, but it also of a prominent woman physician.

Henry (H.T.) & Clara (Epp) Klassen fonds

This fonds contains writings of H.T. and Clara his wife, including an extensive well-organized sermon collection. There is a photograph of a reunion of former Kronsgartner, Wiesefelder and Prijuter from 1973, as well as a map of Wiesenfeld as remembered from 1923. There is also one sound recording of H.T. Klassen speaking about his childhood memories of Russia.

Siegfried Janzen fonds

This fonds consists of Janzen's correspondence and reports while working in Gronau, Germany, while attending Bethel College and while working with the youth in Vineland Ontario. Included in Janzen's Germany materials are essays and memoirs by some of the refugees Janzen worked with as well as correspondence with leaders such as Dr. Kurt Kauenhowen and Walter Quiring. There are 107 slides showing the Gronau camp, people and activities. The materials gives an account of the Janzens' life in Germany, Kansas and Vineland. With this material a better understanding of the effects of the Second World War on the Mennonite population in the Ukraine and the process of emigrating from there to Paraguay or Canada can be gained.

This fonds consists of family photographs taken in Russia and some in Canada, and official family documents. Many of the photographs are good quality portraits of family and friends. There are also some photos from Slavogrod, Siberia, the graves of prisoners of war (1914-1918) in Tobolsk, Siberia, and a photo of workers at the Dneprostroy (Dneproges hydroelectric) Dam near Zaporozhye. The documents include baptismal records, life insurance policies, passports, membership certificate, police documents, and postponement of military responsibilities.
