Wheat City Kennel Club fonds

Fonds consists of minutes of the first organizational meeting of the club, minutes of subsequent meetings, copies of an early club newsletter called "Canine Communique", one photo album containing pictures and documents from the 1978 Sanction Match, a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings and photos of the March 1985 show, plus miscellaneous documents concerning the club's activities from 1985 to 1990 (including premium lists and judging schedules for the years 1986, 1987, 1989 & 1990) and eight photo albums and three large cardboard envelopes containing profession photographs (Mikron Photos)of the winners at the Wheat City Kennel Club dog shows in the years from 1987 to 1997 inclusive. Other documents as follows: Show catalogues from 1985 to 2008 (1990 missing); premium lists, judging schedules, constitution, minutes, activites other than dog shows (including one VHS tape of a Walk-A-D0g-A-Thon and 2 CDs of an interview by Community College students, and miscellaneous show correspondence from 1989 to 2008 (1990, 1996-99 incl missing, and no show in 2007)Accession 2010.04 contains the premium list and show catalogue for the 2010 Brandon Dog Shows of which Wheat City hosted two of the four shows.

Errol Berry fonds

Fonds consists of one DVD on which the interview done in October, 2008 was recorded. In the interview, Mr. Berry relates his own and his father's history in Reston, MB, and his own experiences in Carberry, MB, including references to tournament baseball in the 1940s with the Carberry team and some of the players and executive, the presence of the RAF and the Canadian Air Force training schools that still existed in Carberry when he arrived, the origin of Spruce Woods Provincial Park, and the building of roads from Carberry to the Trans Canada Highway and to Glenboro.

James and Sophia Christison fonds

Fonds consists of three wooden plaques with metal plates attached inscribed with the details of the awards presented to Mr. & Mrs. Christison for the beauty of their home grounds. The Manitoba Horticultural Society sponsored the provincial competition. The awards are for placing in the Urban (Towns) category, commemorating a second place in 1986, a third place in 1988, and a second place in 1989.

Each page shows a photograph of an old business or other town building, and superimposed on the photograph is a smaller photograph of that site as it is today. Photos were drawn from the collections of the Carberry Plains Archives, the Carberry News-Express, and the CPR Corporate Archives.

Wellwood Cemetery fonds

The book contains listings of all the graves contained in the cemetery, together with the dates of birth and death (if known) for each grave, plus photographs of some areas of the cemetery. In some cases, there are also historical notes concerning the grave's occupant.

Carberry and Area Lions Club fonds

Fonds consists of a calendar for 2008-09 (58.5 x 28 cm) the top half of which shows a picture, framed by small (1 column inch approximately) advertisements for local businesses. Below that in the bottom half are the calendar pages (starting in July and also bearing small business advertisements). For this year, since it is the Carberry & District Agricultural Society's 125th Anniversary, the picture selected for the calendar is a photograph of a winning team of horses exhibited by James C Humeston of Wellwood at the fair in 1908

Victor E. Barber fonds

Fonds consists of four typewritten single-spaced pages on very lightweight paper, somewhat yellowed. The document is a letter written by Barber to his mother after he was shot down and (presumably) rescued and returned to the safety of the Allied forces. The letter describes his being shot down over Germany, his efforts to find his way back to the Allied lines, and some of the adventures he encountered during that time.
