Ukrainian typescript under the photo on the album page: "Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Skaro, Alberta." The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was built by Father Anton Sylla, O.M.I., with the help of Father Ruh.
Father Ruh is seated in the centre of the photo, surrounded by luxuriant gardens he created for the Faryna family, with whom he stayed for a few years during his missionary period in northern Alberta. Four members of the family stand close to the house.
Father Ruh is seated, the second from the left, with his head on his hand, and several members of the Faryna family stand nearby. The luxuriant gardens which he created for them were in gratitude for the kindness and generosity the family showed him during the years they lived together as he served his mission duties in northern Alberta.
