Series consists of News Releases originating from the Marketing and Communications Department, announcing various the Winnipeg Art Gallery events and activities from 1981 to 1995.

This series consist of various photographs from various sources and artists. There are 16 different folders containing several photographs of original prints, paintings, etc. by artists who probably had some kind of connection either to the Gallery, Manitoba or Winnipeg. The originals do not necessarily belong to the Gallery and are quite often located at such institutions like the National Gallery, Public Archives of Canada, Harvard or the Glenbow Museum. There is usually a description behind the photo of the artist, title, date, medium, original size and remarks of original.

Design and construction of The WAG building In April, 1964, the Board of Governors of the Winnipeg Art Gallery made plans to construct a building to house the Winnipeg Art Gallery, at that time operating out of the Civic Auditorium at 200 Vaughan Street in Winnipeg (now the Provincial Archives Building). Options were acquired for a site on Memorial Boulevard on January 4, 1966. In September of that year, a decision was made to authorize a national, juried competition for design of the building. The design was to give special attention to the functions of preserving, collecting and exhibiting works of art, but also to technical and aesthetic aspects. Winnipeg architect, Gustavo da Rosa submitted the winning design. Work on the building began in December 1969, and the building was officially opened in 1971 although construction was not complete. Upon completion in 1972, the Winnipeg Art Gallery building at 300 Memorial Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba, was opened to the public. Renovations to The WAG Building From 1982 to 1996, from time to time, the Winnipeg Art Gallery has undertaken renovations to the building at 300 Memorial Boulevard. These projects have included renovations to the Gift Shop, modifications to and up grading of the storage vault, renovations to the fourth floor, and construction of the Conservation Lab. Renovations to the Studio Building In 1995, the Winnipeg Art Gallery purchased the Mall Medical Building immediately south of the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The main use of the building is the various functions of Studio Programs.
