The fonds consists of diaries, correspondence, speeches, news clippings, photographs, household records, and scrapbooks. Each of the diaries contain information on different trips and events. The outgoing correspondence is mostly directed to her family and friends. The incoming correspondence, mainly originating from her associates at the United Nations, consists primarily of comments and inquiries about her travels abroad. There is a large and diverse collection of memoranda, newsletters and reports from the Women's Volunteer Service and UNICEF. There are several United Nations reports on various international topics such as apartheid, troubles in Rhodesia, and the Nobel Peace Prize. The five scrapbooks range in date from 1922 to 1961 and deal with her early life, the Women's Volunteer Service, the United Nations, and assorted memorabilia. The fonds also includes over 300 photographs.

The fonds consists of photographic negatives of Islamic courtyards and gardens from Lehrman's travels in the following countries: Algeria (1978), Egypt (1978), India (1974-1996), Iran (1974 and 1978), Italy (1978), Morocco (1978), Pakistan (1976), Spain (1978), and Turkey (1978). Many of these photographs were used in Lehrman's Earthly Paradise: Garden and Courtyard in Islam, which was published in 1980. In addition to textual records, the fonds contains 900 black and white negatives, 76 enlarged mounted photographs, 1458 photographs mounted in albums, 1440 slides, and 1 video recording.
