Moving Image collection

This collection consists of 23 VHS tapes, 6 DVDs, 1 betacam videocassette, 1 Hi 8 (8mm camcorder) tape, 6 ½” open reel videos, and 1 16mm film reel that have been donated by community members or acquired by curatorial staff. Community Oral Histories collection

The Community Oral Histories collection is an artificially created collection of oral histories of The Pas and area community members, which were not conducted by or associated with the Sam Waller Museum. The collection consists of nineteen audio tapes of interviews with members of the community and summary transcripts of the interviews, as well as other audio records. Oral history interviews include Jack Walker, May Bridle, Hector Pocock, Phil Reader, Alec Russell, Ford McMillan, Syd Allen, Burt Hutton, Blake McKay, Bella Cochrane, Florence Gudgeon, Geoff Smith, Phyllis Chartrand, Tom Lamb, and Ed Johanson. Other audio recordings include The 3 Dee’s and the Trappers’ Festival 1965.

Trappers' Festival Scrapbook

Consists of loose pages from a scrapbook and reproductions of the pages. The scrapbook consists largely of newspaper clippings on the Trappers’ Festival, spanning from the first Trappers’ Festival, 1948, to the fifth annual Trappers’ Festival in 1952; programmes for the first, second, fourth and fifth annual Trappers’ festival; a ribbon for the committee chairman, and various festival related ephemera, including tickets and a 1952 festival napkin. The articles are on Trappers’ Festival activities, including the dog races, the queen and court, and fiddlers’ competition, among others and there are several articles about The Pas, or The Pas residents, and Northern Manitoba in general.

Vaughn Wadelius collection

The collection consists of class lists (1946 – 1951), an incomplete report card, Manitoba Department of Education requisition form for the library, schedules for detention room, playground and hall duties, a letter to parents of students regarding departmental exams, a floppy disk and CD copy of The Pas School District and Kelsey School Division Alpha list of Teachers (1928 – 1960), letter from The Pas Winter Carnival requesting donations, letter from The Pas Winter Carnival announcing the first Carnival Queen and Court contest, letter of thanks for a donation, seven Grade XI examinations booklets that were Erik Wadelius’ (June 1931), several event programmes saved by Vaughn Wadelius when he was the principal of the schools, including the programmes for the official opening of Mary Duncan Elementary School (1973) and the ‘Official opening of New Addition Kelsey Elementary School’ (1972), a programme booklet for the 1949 The Pas Musical Festival (saved by Olive Wadelius), as well as the Faculty Handbook for Mary Duncan Elementary School 1984-1985 which Wadelius himself primarily compiled as principal.

Armand & Florence Dupas collection

The Armand & Florence Dupas collection consists of a newspaper clipping for the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, two cheques to A. Dupas from Transport Ltd., Town of The Pas tax land receipt from 1949, Priority Suit Purchase certificate, Mechanical Transport Drivers Identification Card, tax notices for the Town of The Pas for 1947 and 1952, a Canadian National Telegram from 1943, a bill from St. Anthony’s Hospital, and a discharge certificate.

R. H. Bagshaw fonds

The R. H. Bagshaw fonds consists of R. H. Bagshaw’s diary from 1907 – 1908, typewritten excerpts from his diary, and the envelope that contained the diary for transport at some point in 1940.

Ted Tadda collection

The Ted Tadda collection consists of some correspondence from the Department of External Affairs regarding the usage of photographs used in a newspaper and a letter from the Prince Albert Citizen Centennial Committee, and two articles, “A short biographical sketch of the late Edward Field, written by request for the ‘Sheho Standard.’” and “A Brief History of the Town now known as The Pas, Manitoba”. The collection also includes a World War II scrapbook that belonged to Ted Tadda, which contains many full-page newspaper articles as well as small clippings, membership cards, postcards, manuals, application forms, cartoons, propaganda, occupation money, Red Cross pamphlets, letters from Great West Life and Canadian National Rail, and various instructions on how to be frugal and support the war effort.

Tom Paquette fonds

The Tom Paquette fonds consists of two letters of correspondence from David J. Winton to Mr. Tom Paquette and one invitation to The Pas Lumber Co. employee reunion, and their corresponding envelopes.

Bridle family fonds

The Bridle family fonds consists of a guestbook manufactured by Hutchings and Patrick Limited, Ottawa, Ontario, each page indicates the month, day, date and person(s) who visited the Bridles in 1954 – 1955. All entries are hand-written by the same person.
