Winnipeg Tribune fonds

The fonds contains the Tribune research collection (or `morgue' files) as created by the newspaper's staff consisting of personality files and subject folders of clippings from the 1930's to 1980. Many of the subject files have been microfilmed by the Archives for preservation purposes. The microfilm collection totals 167 reels. There are approximately 2,500,000 clippings (a few of the clippings may be from other newspapers such as the Free Press), divided over some 11,000 different subject categories and 60,000 personality folders. Together they provide ready-made collections of people and events in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and abroad. The collection is also well documented pictorially with over 500,000 photographs and negatives. A typewritten alphabetical index to the Tribune fonds is available.

Winnipeg Theatre Clippings collection

Collection consists of two ledger-sized scrapbooks of theatre-related clippings from Winnipeg newspapers from 1914 to 1927 and one smaller scrapbook listing, alphabetically, the people profiled in J. B. McGeachy’s “I First Saw” column in the Winnipeg Free Press from 1921-1929.

The fonds consists of 8 series: vital documents, annual reports and minutes, financial reports, bulletins and church information, correspondence, subject files and references, photographs, and artifacts. Included in these series are the Church's constitution, materials used by the directors and members of the congregation during services or other functions, official minutes and financial reports, correspondence revealing the relations between members and directors of the Church, membership and healing lists, and photographs.

Winnipeg General Strike Collection

The collection consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings from both the Winnipeg Free Press and the Winnipeg Evening Tribune regarding the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919. The clippings are from May 27-29, June 2-3, 6, 10-13, 30 and July 1, 1919. One clipping is from November 20, 1965. One complete photocopy of the scrapbook is included.

The fonds consists of several copies of the entire publication run of the Winnipeg Citizen (May 19 - June 20, 1919), an anti-labour newspaper published by the the Citizens' Committee of 1000. Also included in the fonds is the initial edition (March 1, 1948) of the 1948-1949 version of the Winnipeg Citizen.

They include: articles, book reviews and reports; organizations; Taiga Biological Station; correspondence; research material; mould damaged journals; photo collection (PC 281); tape collection (TC 155); microfilm collection (MF. 32); electronic records (EL 25); and maps (MC 34).

A12-75: This accession contains eight audio cassettes containing material on Andrew Taylor and interviews related to "Wild Harmony".

A12-106: This accession is arranged into three series; correspondence and documentation (including correspondence, research materials, manuscript drafts, and other documentation); audio/visual materials (PC 281 and TC 155); and map cabinet items (MC 34 - one map and 3 bioclimate charts).

This fonds is divided into 5 series ranging from Feasibility Studies, Assessment Reports, Budgets and a mixture of reports, brochures, personal papers as well as documentation pertaining to the nearby community of Snow Lake such as newspapers. Several photographs are also included within the fonds. The fifth series consists of an oversize folder containing large maps and a second smaller one with mine safety training certificates.
