Large dark-brown leather-covered book containing appraisal of The Brandon Steam Laundry Co. Limited (1215-1219 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba), performed by the Canadian Appraisal Company, Montreal in 1913. Consists of 100 pages typed; detailed analysis of the laundry including the boiler house, dye house, stable, wagon shed, barn and sewage.

Photos feature the 62nd Battalion from Victoria, British Columbia on parade in Brandon, Manitoba on March 18, 1916; water tanks, soldiers and tents in Camp Sewell (Camp Hughes), Manitoba (two photos); the tallest and shortest members of the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles in Brandon, Manitoba; and an unidentified trench with a boardwalk, sacks, and soldiers.

The fonds contains documents created by, pertaining to, or accumulated by, the Prince Alexander of Teck Chapter of the I.O.D.E. in Brandon, Manitoba. Documents include roll books (1959-1979), meeting minutes (1971-1994), guide booklets, correspondence, financial records, service secretary's reports (1959-1990), a service manual, a public relations manual, various newspaper clippings, and a poster outlining the organization's purposes and services. Information pertains to attendance, membership, event planning, fundraising, scholarships and bursaries, and charity organizations. Correspondence includes communication with provincial and national I.O.D.E. organizations. The oldest document is a certificate pertaining to the chapter's establishment in 1914.
The fonds is divided into six series:

  1. Organizational Information (1914-1998)
    The series consists of the I.O.D.E. Prince Alexander of Teck Chapter 308 charter, constitution and by-laws, service manual, public relations manual, and information board documents.

  2. Roll Books and Memberships (1914-1994)
    The series consists of membership roll books and lists.

  3. Minutes (1971-1994)
    The series consists of the minutes of the I.O.D.E. Prince Alexander of Teck Chapter 308 between 1971 and 1994.

  4. Correspondence (1991-1994)
    The series consists of correspondence of I.O.D.E. Prince Alexander of Teck Chapter 308 between 1991 and 1994.

  5. Auction/Rummage Sales (1977-1985)
    The series consists of records pertaining to the annual auction/rummage sale of the I.O.D.E. Prince Alexander of Teck Chapter 308 from 1981 to 1985. Includes newspaper clippings.

  6. Service Secretary Records (1959-1990)
    The series consists of records of the activities of I.O.D.E. Prince Alexander of Teck Chapter 308 including correspondence, financial records, and event information between 1959 and 1990.

The collection contains photographs, cards, books, and one document that belonged to Phyllis Ricou. The cards and books were sent from her uncle Laurie V. Smith while he served in France during the First World War. The books include The Poetical Works of John Milton, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and A Graphic History of Modern Europe. The collection also contains Laurie V. Smith’s demobilization letter signed by King George V. The photographs in the collection are of Coronation Day celebrations in Brandon, 1937. The collection also includes a scrapbook compiled by Laurence (Laurie) V. Smith between 1919 and 1936. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, programs and photographs of memorial services and monument unveilings at Russell, Minnedosa, Binscarth, Brandon, Birtle, Alexander, Killarney and Wawanesa, Manitoba.
