Bernuy Collection

  • CMC PHO-C35
  • Fonds
  • [ca.1880]-1955

Many of the photographs in this collection are studio portraits. Six are wedding portraits. Four of these date from ca.1920. One bears the imprint of Campbell's, a Winnipeg photographer. Another bears the imprint of Cie Americaine, Lyon and features a family group. One of the subjects wears a [French?] military uniform. Two other wedding portraits date from ca.1950 - 1955 and are mounted in folders stamped with the Bernuy imprint. Also in a folder with a Bernuy imprint is a portrait of a little boy, ca.1920 - 1930. There are seven postcard prints. Two, ca.1910, have been addressed to a Marie [et Germaine] Sylvestre, Wanchope, Saskatchewan. One is a studio portrait of an infant and the other features a man and two women outdoors with a baby carriage. Two other postcard prints, ca.1930, feature studio portraits of a boy and a girl, probably brother and sister. Three of the postcard prints appear to have originated in France. Two of these, ca.1905 - 1910, feature a couple and a large group in the courtyard of a home. Several of the women in the large group display crochet work in the photograph. Another, ca.1920, features a large group in a touring car and a detailed message in French describing the planned tour verso. There are three studio portraits, ca.1885 - 1910, mounted on card and featuring family groups. Notes in French verso identify some of the subjects. Two smaller studio portraits, ca.1925 - 1930, feature an unidentified woman with an infant and an unidentified couple.
