Annual Reports and Committee Minutes

Series consists of the minutes and correspondence of several committees and administrative units of Manitoba College, particularly the Board of Management and correspondence with the Board of Studies of the University of Manitoba. Many of the minutes are accompanied by a letter for transmission to members of the committee not present at the meeting. Also includes several annual reports made by the administrative bodies of the College. Series is arranged chronologically into four files, the first three being minutes and correspondence, the fourth being annual reports.

Subscription Lists, Correspondence & Record Book

Series consists of correspondence and concerning donations made to Manitoba College, with an 1880-81 report of its Board of Management. Series is divided by document type into several files: the lists are arranged chronologically, whereas the correspondence [incoming and outgoing, respectively] are in alphabetical order by name of the correspondent.

Series consists of the correspondence of faculty members of Manitoba College, both incoming and outgoing [in copy], primarily on behalf of various college affairs with a small inclusion of personal correspondence. Series is arranged by the topic of the correspondence, with incoming and outgoing files for each topic, and alphabetized by sender or recipient, respectively, within. The final two files contain some documents which are not precisely correspondence -- reports, newspaper clippings, memos, and property deeds, including a brief manuscript by Dr. A.B. Baird on the history of the College and a list of the contents of the Manitoba College cornerstone enclosure.

Student and Faculty Lists

Series consists of lists of students and faculty compiled in a variety of contexts. Includes a file of loose leaves, showing enrolment or graduation in Theology and Arts, scholarship recipients, and correspondence and mailing lists from presbyteries about student missionaries. Includes also a ledger showing enrolment in different programs, membership in the Student's Council/Association, payment of various fees, and tenancy in residence by gender, arranged by academic year.

Series consists of many of the issues of Manitoba College Journal, a periodical that published essays by students and faculty, news about the College and its activities such as athletics, graduation, student life, alumni affairs, and building renovations. Series is arranged chronologically.

King Memorial Fund

Series consists of correspondence and financial records of the King Memorial Fund. Series is arranged into two boxes: the first contains incoming correspondence about subscription to the Fund, arranged alphabetically by the name of sender. The second box contains the reports of Rev. Joseph Hogg, who travelled around Canada soliciting subscription, particularly from Presbyteries; the memos and incoming and outgoing correspondence of the King Memorial Fund Committee; and a list of subscriptions from Presbyteries, arranged alphabetically.

The King Memorial Fund began in May 1902 as an effort to raise $50,000 in order to endow a Chair in New Testament Exegesis called the King Memorial Chair. The Chair was meant to honour Manitoba College's first Principal, Dr. John Mark King, who had passed away in 1899. The second Principal, Dr. William Patrick, was appointed to the Chair in 1905 and by the following year the fundraising goal had been surpassed.

Lantern Slides Correspondence

Series consists of the correspondence of the Lantern Slide Department of Manitoba College, which kept a library of magic lantern slides and equipment for rental primarily to church groups. The slides covered geography, history, world cultures, and missionary work in Canada and around the world. The correspondence, both outgoing in copy and incoming, is between the College's distributor, Presbytarian Publications, concerning orders for slides and lanterns; and with patrons of the College's rental media and equipment. Series is arranged into Incoming and Outgoing, respectively, and sorted chronologically within each category.

Theology Hoods

File consists of academic hoods for the Bachelor of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity at Manitoba College. The first hood [violet] belonged to Rev. John Phillips Jones, D.D. The remaining four hoods are of unknown provenance: two are for the Bachelor of Divinity, one is for the Doctor of Divinity [all violet], and the fourth [red] is unknown.

Series consists of subscription lists, memos, and correspondence for the Manitoba College Association and The Torch, its 1920 publication. Subscription lists make up the majority of the records, mostly arranged by Presbytery.
