Ross Navigation Company collection

The Ross Navigation Company collection consists of five certificates of the steamboat ‘Tobin’ of Kenora for the Ross Navigation Company Limited of The Pas, Manitoba for the years 1927, 1928, 1930, 1934 and 1935, and a letter and list relating to the disposal of Captain Horatio Hamilton Ross’ effects from 1925.

The collection consists of class lists (1946 – 1951), an incomplete report card, Manitoba Department of Education requisition form for the library, schedules for detention room, playground and hall duties, a letter to parents of students regarding departmental exams, a floppy disk and CD copy of The Pas School District and Kelsey School Division Alpha list of Teachers (1928 – 1960), letter from The Pas Winter Carnival requesting donations, letter from The Pas Winter Carnival announcing the first Carnival Queen and Court contest, letter of thanks for a donation, seven Grade XI examinations booklets that were Erik Wadelius’ (June 1931), several event programmes saved by Vaughn Wadelius when he was the principal of the schools, including the programmes for the official opening of Mary Duncan Elementary School (1973) and the ‘Official opening of New Addition Kelsey Elementary School’ (1972), a programme booklet for the 1949 The Pas Musical Festival (saved by Olive Wadelius), as well as the Faculty Handbook for Mary Duncan Elementary School 1984-1985 which Wadelius himself primarily compiled as principal.

Gertrude Johnson fonds

The fonds consists of three minute and record books acting as guest books/diaries, with most entries written by Gertrude Johnson. Guest book entries refer to people visiting a cabin or camp at Clearwater Lake, as well as weather observations at the lake. The guest books cover the years from 1928-1967. No biographical information on Gertrude Johnson is known.

Sous-Fonds consists of Photographs, loose and notebook bound minutes, financial records, membership lists, reports on the Guild's activities, documents relating to fundraising activities, documents detailing the history and major events of the Guild including newspaper clippings, correspondence and records from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Winnipeg Rh Institute and Lt. Melville Wood Guild.

Orange Ridge

Orange Ridge 576 1889 – 1968
Brydges S.D. #576 was formed in 1889. Two buildings on three different sites served this small school district which was carved out of the much larger postal community of Orange Ridge. In 1929 Brydges School District was changed to Orange Ridge so it could be identified with the community from which it developed. The first teacher was Miss Minnie Glennie.
