Schneider/Snyder Family sous-fonds

The Schneider/Snyder Family sous-fonds consists mainly of handwritten and typed correspondence between Fritz and Thilde Schneider from 1925 to 1942. The subject matter of the early letters focuses on everyday happenings while the pair were living and studying in different areas of Germany. Later correspondence took place while Thilde was residing on the Society Farm in Little Britain, Manitoba and Fritz was in Germany on business. Finally, letters from 1939-1942 discuss Fritz's internment at the Kananaskis Internment Camp in Alberta and the hearings for his eventual release. Also included in the sous-fonds are various other documents: correspondence from Thilde's father to herself and her family, and from Fritz Schneider to businesses and government organizations as part of his work on the Society Farm; photos of and brochures for farm equipment; and original school records and diplomas for Thilde from 1915 to 1920 and for Fritz Schneider from 1919.

The J. A. Campbell collection consists of correspondence, speeches, a photo-catalogue, reports, four scrapbooks and ephemera. The correspondence includes personal (1918 – 1919), The Pas Board of Trade (1917 – 1944), various Rotary Clubs (Estevan, Banff, Kenora, Prince Albert, etc. 1934 – 1940), the 1921 election, Hudson Bay Railway (1920 – 1928), correspondence with several newspapers including the Winnipeg Tribune (1926 – 1928), etc. Speeches written and delivered by J. A. Campbell in various venues (1920s – 1940s) range in topic from politics to resources in the North and the importance and significance of the Hudson Bay Railway. Reports compiled since 1886 – 1958 on The Hudson Bay Railway Route (1886 – 1924), mining of natural resources in Northern Manitoba (1917 – 1924) and reports on The Pas (1958).The photo-catalogue contains descriptions/titles for photographs from 1916 – 1923, 25 pages. The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings about the Hudson Bay Railway from 1923 – 1924.

The Pas Musical Festival Association fonds

The Pas Musical Festival Association fonds consists of a programme for the fourth annual The Pas Musical Festival held in the Lido Theatre, May 9th – 11th, 1939, and records kept by President Harvey including meeting minutes, financial reports, lists of officers and adjudicators, lists of award sponsors, newspaper clippings, speeches by President Harvey, concert programmes, and miscellaneous notes.

The Pas Postal Directory collection

The Pas Postal Directory collection consists of the postal directories arranged by profession and/or occupation code numbers, business box numbers, P.O. Box numbers, and general delivery. The first mail deliveries began in 1856 courtesy of the Hudson Bay Company store. The first separate post office was located next door to the HBC store. After the Town of The Pas’ incorporation in 1912, the first appointed Post Master was R. H. Bagshaw. The current Post Office at 161 Fischer Avenue was constructed in 1932 by the Federal Government to house the Post Office, Customs Office and RCMP. The building now houses the Post Office and government offices.
