"1963 Last Pour" View from the southern ramp of the mixing and hauling method used by the volunteer members of the Knights of Columbus #4138 as they completed the first level above the central cave of the Grotto in Honour of Our Lady of Lourdes. The Knights pledged themselves to complete the project, Father Ruh’s last, as best they could.

"Oct. 12/63 Last pour" The Eleventh Station of the Cross within the Grotto in Honour of Our Lady of Lourdes. During the early years of construction and fund-raising for the Grotto, it was often referred to as the Calvary, for within the arches and behind the central cave, the Stations of the Cross were first built.

"Oct. 12/63 Last Pour" Volunteer members of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4138, use a mechanical cement mixer to complete the first level above the main Grotto cave, in Father Ruh’s last major project, the Grotto in Honour of Our Lady of Lourdes. Prior to his death, he surrendered responsibility for the project to the Council.

Their dedicated labour on the Grotto and the grounds led to fulfilment of Father Ruh’s dream that the Grotto might serve as a site of inspiration and worship for all Catholics.
