The collection contains photographs of buildings, streets and parks in the City of Brandon. Included are images of the Prince Edward Hotel, Hotel Cecil, Brandon College, Brandon Collegiate, Central Fire Station, Normal School, court house, Stanley Park, and the Provincial Exhibition Park entrance. Also included are photographs of Rosser Avenue and 10th Street in Brandon and the Leitch farm near Alexander, Manitoba.

The fonds consists largely of correspondence between A. Bowerman, W. A. Burman and H.L. Thompson of The Copp Clarke Co. Ltd. publishing company, and E.A. Blakely of the Manitoba Department of Education about the preparation and publication of a textbook on the flora of Manitoba for use in the public schools of the Province. In addition, there is an undated missive from the Department of Education, Manitoba, titled The Course of Agriculture - For the Public Schools of Manitoba.

The records in the A. Gerald Bedford fonds are those of two accessions: Accession 07.004 and Accession 10.001. Accession 07.004 contains records that were given to Bedford by Edith Baragar, as well as historical material collected by Bedford as he conducted research for his books. Accession 10.001 contains primarily records that were created or collected by Bedford throughout his education and academic career. These records begin with those created by Bedford during his undergraduate degree at United College, and encompass the following 50-plus years that Bedford spent studying, teaching, researching, writing and publishing. Accession 10.01 also includes the historical records of George Bryce and William J. Rose, collected by Bedford and donated to the archives along with his own materials.

Also included are family and personal documents, such as his parents’ marriage certificate, his own school report cards and his last will and testament.
