McLeod's Shoe Store fonds

The collection consists of two large black and white photographs depicting the interior of the McLeod's Shoe Store, ca.1912 - 1922. One view depicts the front of the store and the other is oriented towards the back. Two staff members can be seen in the photographs.

Payne Family Collection

Included in this collection of family pictures are photographs of Payne and Blackburn relatives dating from the 1890s and early 1900s. There are also photographs of Clara Payne and her mother dating from the 1930s through to the 1960s. The majority of photographs date from ca.1910 - 1930 and feature the Payne family and their relatives during the years when Walter and Daisy were raising their five children. Other subjects include: two views of Walter Payne in his office at the Winnipeg Free Press; a group photograph of the Canadian Press Club in Winnipeg in 1913; and a group photograph of British newspaper editors on a trip to Winnipeg, ca.1925.

The collection includes: a contemporary copy print of a black and white photograph of the wedding party at the Thomsen/Cook wedding, ca.1956; a contemporary copy print of a black and white photograph of Eleanor and her friends at the Tri-Service Ball, ca.1959; two contemporary copy prints of colour snapshots showing Eleanor and Doug on their wedding day, ca.1961.

Rosella Diduck fonds

This collection includes two photographs of Rosella and John Diduck on their wedding day in 1951. One features them cutting the cake and the other features Rosella and John with their attendants. Also included are wedding portraits of two other couples. One couple is identified as Alex and Tekla Prystayko, ca.1915 - 1917. The other is identified as William King and Bella Rohatinsky, ca.1920. The relationship of these couples to the donor is not known. The fifth photograph is a snapshot of Rosella Diduck, ca.1942, in which she wears a coat which has also been donated to the Museum.

Ella Mae & Robert Lockhart fonds

With the exception of a large group portrait taken outdoors at Mt. Stephen House, Field, B.C., ca.1906, and the interior of an unidentified office, ca.1905, the photographs in this collection are all studio portraits of groups, couples and individuals and are likely relatives and family friends. Included are 1 carte de visite, 1 cabinet card and 13 others of various sizes. Many of the subjects are identified in notes on the back of the photographs. For most, however, their relationship with Ella Lockhart is not clear. Identified subjects include: Ella's mother, Mrs. J. Beckett; Ella's sister, Eva; an infant identified as Bertram Beckett, possibly a nephew; Robert Lockhart with a group of young men who are possibly classmates, ca.1903; and Robert Lockhart, ca.1906.

Seven of the photographs are contemporary copy prints of older originals which depict the donor's ancestors in the female line beginning with her g.g. grandmother. These include: a portrait of the donor's g.g. grandmother, Anna Barbara Andrassy, ca.1804; the same woman, ca.1860-65; the donor's g. grandmother, Mary (Hope) Hespeler, ca.1870; the donor's grandmother, Georgina Hope (Hespeler) Nanton, ca.1885; the donor's mother, Mary Georgina (Nanton) Cameron ca.1905; and two photographs of the wedding party at the wedding of the donor's parents, ca.1912. The other three photographs are studio portraits including one of the donor's mother, ca. 1900 and two of the donor as a child , ca.1918 and ca.1922.

The series consists of three cabinet cards, 1 carte de visite and 1 miniature portrait mounted on card. All are studio portraits of individuals including 1 man, 1 woman and 3 girls, one of whom is posed with four of her dolls. None of the subjects are identified. Four of the photographs feature photographer's imprints indicating that they were taken in Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis and Toledo.

The donors state that the subjects of these photographs are not known to them, however, they hoped that the photographs would have value as reference materials. The collection consists of two Cabinet Card photographs, ca.1890. One features a couple identified in a caption verso as Harrison's oldest daughter and son-in-law. The other of a young woman is identified as Harrison's daughter-in-law. Also in this collection are two postcard portraits, ca.1930, one of two women and the other of two men in winter coats. There are also four snapshots, ca.1925 - 1930. One is of a couple, one of a man holding a dog and one is of a child. The only identified subject of these snapshots is of a man holding an infant identified as Rev. Mathews at an Indian Reserve South of Erikson.

Included in this collection are 4 photographs of Anna alone and 4 of Anna with her husband, Samuel. Anna is shown, ca.1889, in her nurses uniform and prior to her marriage, ca.1892 . She is also seen with Samuel in their wedding portrait which was not taken until 1901 when they made their first trip south after their marriage in 1895. Also included is a full length portrait of Anna, ca.1903. Anna and Samuel are shown in two snapshots outside their Transcona home following their retirement, ca. 1935 and in 1939 and in two individual portraits, ca.1939.
