Bolton Family Collection

The photographs and photographic postcards in this collection are comprised largely of portraits and family pictures belonging to the Bolton family. The majority of individuals photographed remain unidentified. Those who have been identified include James H. Bolton and Jennie Bolton. There are a number of photographs in the collection of soldiers from both WWI and WWII, including a photograph of Camp Sewell (Camp Hughes) near Carberry, Manitoba. There are also photographs of threshing, grain elevators, houses, and animals. The majority of these photographs are from Manitoba including the communities of Kelloe, Shoal Lake, Spruce Creek, Riding Mountain, Routledge, Winnipeg, Brandon, Carberry, Birtle, and Rossburn. Also found in the collection are photographs from Ontario, Saskatchewan, England, and the USA. Each photograph is described in further detail at the individual item level.

The collection contains photographs, newspaper clippings, and a souvenir booklet pertaining to Brandon, Manitoba. Photographs include sports teams, local businesses, hunting activities, and photographs of or relating to local events. Also included is a photograph of the 1882 County Council of Brandon and an advertisement for the Canadian Portrait Co. in Oak Lake, Manitoba.

The collection contains records pertaining to early life in the Brandon area (c.1890-1950). The majority of the records are from local businesses in Brandon. Records pertaining to local businesses include receipt books, price booklets, advertisements, invoices, order forms, business cards, a ledger book, rent records, and patent certificates. There are two reports on the Rural Municipality of Daly: "List of Electors" and "Auditor's Report." There is also a small number of household items. Among the household items, there is a Gaelic Bible, a book of religious stories, a sewing book, a songbook, and vehicle registration cards. Also in the collection are eleven photographs of Brandon area businesses, residents, and events.

Collection consists of fire insurance plans for the City of Winnipeg. Fire insurance plans are maps showing, by colours and symbols, detailed information about each building including structure size and shape, construction materials and detailing, number of floors and lot size. Additional information can include street widths, street numbers, property lines and such fire protection facilities as water pipes or mains, fire hydrants and fire alarm boxes. The plans show streets, churches, hotels, industrial, commercial and public buildings. The plans were originally contained in five bound atlases. These have been disassembled to facilitate access. Information is accessed through a map key.

The collection consists of a photo album containing 41 photographs of Winnipeg churches and their pastors. Among the numerous religions that are featured in this collection, are Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Baptist, and Seventh Day Adventist.The final two photographs are of "Norman" and "Verna" dated 1946.

City of Brandon Collection

The collection is made up of material accumulated by the City of Brandon and pertains primarily to the city's infrastructure. The majority of the collection consists of photographs. Also included are prints, one painting, and drawings. There are photographs of businesses, city streets, significant buildings, parks, sports teams, and important people. Significant buildings include hotels, stores, schools, the old City Hall, the fire hall, and the Court House. Important individuals in these photographs include mayors of Brandon, members of the British Royal family, and multiple Governor Generals of Canada. There are also photographs of groups such as the fire department, the police department, city councils, and other citizen organizations. Along with the photographs there is a disc containing digital copies for the pictures of Brandon's mayors. There are a number of framed documents included in this collection. These include certificates, proclamations, and awards of merit presented to the City of Brandon. Also found in this collection are two guest books from Manitoba's Centennial celebration, city plaques, and sketches for city planning. There is one commemorative dish held in a frame, picturing the old city hall and opera house. Each item in the collection in described in further detail at the individual level.

Coldwell - Marsden Collection

The collection consists of material belonging to the Coldwell-Marsden family. The material contains 79 reprints of photographs taken in Manitoba, British Colombia, and Ontario. The majority of the photographs are of family members and other relations. There are photographs of George R. and Annie Coldwell's family, as well as of Phoebe Jane Coldwell and George W. Marsden's family. These include photographs of their children and grandchildren. Also included in this collection are photographs of written notes (addresses, labels, etc.), as well as of furniture previously belonging to the G.R Coldwell family of Brandon. There is one map included in the collection. It is a 1928 copy of a plan for the city of Brandon originally drawn up in 1882. Items in this collection are described in detail at the individual level in the Daly House Museum database.
