Collection consists of family histories written by students at Jewish schools in Winnipeg in as well as additional family histories collected by the Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada. The students’ family histories were created as a school assignment in Grade 6.
The family histories include may include narrative descriptions, family trees and copies of photographs, immigration records or other relevant documents.
Additional family histories that were donated to the Jewish Heritage Centre were interfiled in this collection. A small number of the histories were researched and written by staff or volunteers on behalf of the Jewish Heritage Centre.
The collection is comprised of material accumulated or created by Beecham Trotter and his family. It consists of photographs of the Trotter Family and other Brandon residents. Additionally there are drawings of different locations in the Brandon area. The collection includes numerous newspaper clippings of articles written by Beecham Trotter on the early days of Brandon. There are also newspaper clippings pertaining to other members of the Trotter family and other prominent Brandon figures. Many of these newspaper clippings are found in a scrapbook and others are separate. Other writings of Beecham Trotter in the collection include a magazine article and a typewritten short story. Items are described in detail at the individual level in the Daly House Museum database.
The collection consists of records created by the Assiniboine Historical Society. The records include, photographs and other historical documents from the Brandon area; meeting minutes; financial records; correspondence records; heritage publications; film committee and street name committee documents; a constitution; documents relating to the Manitoba Historical Society; walking tour documents; and some miscellaneous files. This collection primarily contains photographs of Brandon, Manitoba during the early 1920s. Photographs include the 10 Mile Dam, Brandon’s 1922 flood, parade floats, and the Winter Fair Building fire of 1920.
The collection contains photographs of buildings, streets and parks in the City of Brandon. Included are images of the Prince Edward Hotel, Hotel Cecil, Brandon College, Brandon Collegiate, Central Fire Station, Normal School, court house, Stanley Park, and the Provincial Exhibition Park entrance. Also included are photographs of Rosser Avenue and 10th Street in Brandon and the Leitch farm near Alexander, Manitoba.
