Course Materials

This sub-series includes lecture notes, course outlines, examinations, and other course materials relating to the courses taught, or exams held, by Bedford throughout his years of teaching. Many of the notes that are included amongst Bedford's course materials appear to be those that Bedford created while a student in similar courses, suggesting that Bedford used his own student-notes upon teaching during his academic career.

This series contains historical materials collected by Bedford upon conducting research for his book on the history of the University of Winnipeg. Materials in this series include letters, photographs, and an 1886 edition of the Manitoba College Journal.

The records in this series are those created or collected by Bedford throughout his academic career. These records detail Bedford’s role as a faculty member of United College; professor of English and Mathematics; University historian; active participant in university athletics, conferences, and faculty committees; examiner and adjudicator for Winnipeg schools; and one of the founding members of the Association of University Teachers of English. This series contains the sub-series Course Materials, Faculty Records, Professional Associations, Professional Correspondence, and Addresses and Writings.

This series contains a variety of materials collected by Bedford relating to the history of the University of Winnipeg and its founding colleges, sports, education, Winnipeg, and the United Church of Canada, and includes publications, newspaper and magazine clippings, correspondence, official documents, obituaries, theses, and many of Bedford's own notes. Some of these research materials may have been used by Bedford upon writing the history of the University of Winnipeg.
