The Winnipeg Art Gallery Association
Series consists of Exhibition records. These files generally include Loan Agreements, exhibition planning, correspondence with artists, and installation information. Records are arranged according the opening date of the exhibition, and are organized by fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Within the fiscal year, the files are in alphabetical order according to the title of the exhibition, unless the title includes an artist's name. When an artist's last name forms part of the name of the exhibition, the records are often filed under the artist's name. "The" as part of an exhibition title is ignored. Exhibition records sometimes also contain records of exhibitions that were cancelled or rejected, or those of travelling exhibitions. Additional exhibition records may also be located in the Winnipeg Art Gallery Director's files. Records in this series represent exhibitions which opened before the incorporation of the Winnipeg Art Gallery (May 6, 1963). Illi Maria Harff was the gallery's curator from 1956 to 1969.
