Administrative Records

The series consists of the materials generated and used by the Director and administration of the dietetics department to carry out the primary functions of the department. The organizational charts, inventory of catering supplies and equipment, publicity materials and financial statements and reports made for the Corporate Office of the Health Science Centre over the period of 1959-1986.
Series contains two bound books used by the administration to record the scheduling of the administrative department and records which specialty diets were used by patients within the institution from 1957-1995. Nutrition Month Reports and committee meeting minutes are also included.

Series consists of objects used by the Volunteer Services department. Objects include Awards, Key Ring, Medallions and Uniforms worn by volunteers.
Light blue uniforms are from before 1990. Grey uniforms date from 1990 - 1999 and Dark blue from 1999 onwards

Series is a collection of reports pertaining to the research and removal of asbestos from the Central Laundry.

Awards

The series documents the application for and reception of the 1995 Manitoba Quality Awards by the Department of Dietetics and Cafeterias. The award, given by The Manitoba Quality Network and Reimer Express World Corp., recognized the commitment of organizations towards quality and improvement. The winners received a plaque and a feedback report which highlighted the strengths of the organization and proposed opportunities for further improvements. The series consists of an achievement report submitted by the Dietetics Department, correspondence, event programs, a feedback report, and a newspaper clipping.

Sous-Fonds consists of records related to the functions of the Biomedical Communications department at the Health Sciences Centre. This includes meeting minutes, financial records, documents related to services provided, operations plans, policies, forms, copies of BMC News and documentation related to video creation.

Centennial

The series documents many of the functions such as the Centenarian tea celebrating the WGH centenary of 1972 and the role the Department of Dietetics played in those celebrations. The department was also able to compile a history of the department and the internship program in anticipation of the anniversary. The appointed committee produced an official history which was used in a centennial presentation and tea within the department. The project group articulated the methodology as well as the questionnaire that would define the scope of the project. They were also in charge of the coordination of the alumni responses used in the history presentation.
Projects include the centennial project committee and the correspondence relating to the history project which was compiled by Miss Bessie McCuaig as well as the original presentation note cards. Files contain several artifacts form the centenary such as buttons, stickers and souvenir menus from the events.

Chinese Cooks

The series records the history of the Chinese cooks at the WGH as part of the history project undertaken by the Dietetics Department for the centennial anniversary of the hospital. The records were arranged by subject matter and were compiled for a narrative presentation on a unique aspect of the department’s history. The project files contain recorded personal memories, compiled lists of first employees and correspondence with the descendants of Joe Mar.
