Name of creator
Hampton Street United Church existed in Winnipeg from 1925 until 1929. The predecessor of Hampton Street United Church was St. James Presbyterian Church and the successor was St. James United Church. After a difficult negotiation period, St. James Presbyterian Church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. With only two-thirds of its members and Board intact, the congregation adopted the new name of Hampton Street United Church. In 1929, the Hampton street congregation amalgamated with the Parkview United Church congregation to form St. James United Church. Upon amalgamation, the Parkview United Church structure was used for services and the Hampton Street church structure was sold.
The records of Hampton Street United Church came to the conference archives of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records in 1993.
