Biographical history
Grey Street United Church has existed in Winnipeg since 1946. Grey Street United Church resulted from the amalgamation of Talbot Avenue United Church (1905-1946) and Martin Avenue United Church (1914-1946). From 1946 to 1951, the amalgamated congregations worshipped in the Martin Avenue building. A new structure was completed in 1951 and the name Grey Street United Church was adopted. Grey Street United Church is located at 651 Sandhurst Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Custodial history
The records of Grey Street United Church came to the conference archives of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of two transfers of records in 1998 and 2001.
Scope and content
The surviving records of Grey Street United Church are arranged in the following series: Sacramental Registers, pertaining to Baptisms, 1947-1961, Marriages, 1947-1984, and Burials, 1947-1990; Membership Rolls and records of the Session, including a communion roll/register and minutes, 1946-1971; records of the Official Board, including minutes and clippings, 1945-1989; records pertaining to Christian Education, including minutes and financial records, 1952-1967; records of Annual Congregational Meetings and Annual Reports, 1975-1993; records pertaining to the Board of Stewards and church property, including minutes, 1952-1967; records of lay associations, including AOTS and Women's Association, 1940-1967; and reference material, including guest book and photograph.
