Biographical history

Georgia Kerr was born September 3, 1957 in Edmonton, Alberta. She began her dance training in 1966 with the Etobicoke Board of Recreation in Toronto, Ontario. She continued her training in Calgary from 1970 to 1975 with former RWB Dancer Lynette Fry Abra. In 1975, she attended the Royal Academy of Dance Summer Session, and attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division from 1975-1978. She made her professional debut with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet the day after she joined it as a member of the corps de ballet in April of 1978. Due to back pain, she retired from dancing in 1984 and found work at Desart Ltd, making occasional guest dancer appearance. She married Duane Cheskey and after her retirement, she became an active member of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Alumni Association.

Custodial history

The records of Georgia Kerr came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet archives as part of a transfer of records from the RWB and were also collected by the Alumni Association.
