Biographical history

Genevieve Johns, later Genevieve Doidge, was a record breaking sprinter who participated and won local, national, and international track and field competitions in the 1930s. She graduated from Wesley College in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1935. Some of her affiliations include the University of Manitoba, United Colleges Athletic Association and the Women’s Amateur Athletic Federation of Canada: Manitoba Chapter.

Custodial history

The scrapbook was donated to the University of Winnipeg Archives in August 1983, likely by Genevieve Doidge (nee Johns).

Scope and content

The papers consist of one series, her scrapbook, which contains newspaper clippings about Johns, photographs and awards won by Johns collected from 1931 to 1935.
