Biographical history

Elm Creek Methodist Church existed in the Manitoba community of Elm Creek, south east of Portage la Prairie, in the Rural Municipality of Grey, from 1900 to 1918. The Rev. Hamilton Wigle of Carman conducted the first service in Elm Creek in July 1896. Culross and Clarke's schoolhouse joined the circuit in 1899. A church measuring 30 by 40 feet was built on land donated by Joseph Rinn and dedicated during services held on June 3 and 4, 1900. The Rev. A.E. Lavender was the minister when Elm Creek Methodist and St. Andrew's Presbyterian formed a Local Union in 1918.
