Biographical history

Dale Yoshida was born in London, Ontario and began her dance training at the Dorothy Scruton Academy of Dance. She also attended the Elliot Lake Summer Course, Lois Smith’s Summer School and Banff Summer School. She entered the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division in 1976, where she made her professional debut in 1978. She joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet as part of the corps de ballet in July of 1978. She remained a member of the corps de ballet until she left the company in 1983. In 1987, Dale joined the dance programme faculty at Western University, where she taught Ballet Fundamentals from 2005 through to 2011. She continues her position of Lecturer in the Don Wright Faculty of Music in the Music Education department and is co-director of “Studies in Motion”, an annual production of student compositions. She also teaches at the North London Dance Centre in London and guest teaches throughout southern Ontario.

Custodial history

The records of Dale Yoshida came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet archives as part of several transfers of records from the RWB and the RWB Alumni Association.

The Dale Yoshida fonds includes the following series: alumni questionnaire (1990); biographical information [1982]; and photographs (1979-1982).
