Photograph of Coombs & Stewart, the first store built in Brandon June 12, 1881 facing Pacific Avenue and the southeast corner of 6th Street. Pictured is a group of seven men and one boy standing in front of the building.

General note

Historical Background: Brandon's first merchant's, Coombs & Stewart, established their business in 1881 at the southeast corner of 6th Street and Pacific Avenue. In 1882 William Muir (1859-1946) began working for Coombs & Stewart. The store later moved to the J.W. McDonalds location at the northeast corner of 9th and Rosser.
