Administrative history
Clanwilliam United Church existed in the Manitoba community of Clanwilliam, located northwest of Neepawa, from 1925 to 1995. Its predecessor was Clanwilliam Presbyterian Church built in 1884. A new church was built on Lots 5 and 6 and the most northerly 20 feet in width of Lot 7 in Block 2 in the Townsite of Clanwilliam in 1933. The old church was renovated and used as a residence. At Union, Rev. J. Carmichael was the first United minister. Murchison remained a preaching point, and continued to be until 1960, when Clanwilliam joined the Minnedosa Pastoral charge. Clanwilliam United Church closed on June 30, 1995 and the church was sold to Phillip Humfries to be used as a store, tearoom and post office. All church furnishings that were not family memorials were sold at an auction. The stained glass windows were removed and became part of a cairn placed in the cemetery north of Clanwilliam.
