The records of the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg were transferred to the Archives of Manitoba in 1980 as part of the Winnipeg General Hospital accrual. In 1979, many of the Children’s Hospital records that had not been deposited at the Archives of Manitoba were gathered up by Dr. Harry Medovy to be used in publishing his book on the history of Children’s Hospital, these records are thought to have been also transferred to the Provincial Archives. For the next twenty years Marie-Alice Grassick and Dr. James Haworth collected other material from staff, former nurses and members of the Children’s Hospital Guilds. In 1999 the Children’s Hospital Archives Committee was formed in order to organize the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of Children’s Hospital. The Committee continued the work begun by Medovy and collected Children’s Hospital material both records that had not been transferred to the Provincial Archives and also those created after 1973. In [2008?], recognizing that their records were at risk, the Children’s Hospital Archives Committee approached the Nurses’ Alumni Association of the Winnipeg General Hospital/Health Sciences Centre for space in their Archives. In 2009, HSC restructured the former Archives Committee into the HSC Heritage Committee, and through its broadened representation on this corporate advisory committee, the Children’s Hospital Archives Committee was formally recognized as a stakeholder in the Health Sciences Centre Archives/Museum. Additional Children’s Hospital materials were transferred to the HSC Archives/Museum in 2010, and the Children’s Hospital fonds was established. In 2011 the records pertaining to the Guilds were transferred to a separate fonds.
