Biographical history

Catherine Jean Kerby and Private Elmer Gordon Lowen were married in the parlor at Knox United Church on December 26, 1942. Mrs. Bruce McLarty, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Mr. William Ingles was best man. Mr. Bruce McLarty and William Lowen, brother of the groom, were ushers. A reception was held following the ceremony in the drawing room at the Fort Garry Hotel.

Custodial history

These photographs were donated to the Dugald Costume Museum by Catherine Lowen in 1983.

Scope and content

This small collection includes: an informal portrait of the bride and groom along with the best man and the matron of honor at the Fort Garry after the wedding; a large informal portrait of the bride and groom as they are leaving Knox United Church following the ceremony.

The portrait of the wedding party at the Fort Garry measures 17.3 x 12.2 cm. The large portrait of the wedding couple leaving the church measures 20.2 x 25.3 cm. Both are stamped with the photographer's imprint of 'H.K. White, 1095 McMillan Avenue, Winnipeg' verso.
