Castle Hill School #1057 was founded in 1900 to provide educational services to children of the Castle Hill, Manitoba area. The school was closed in 1967. Further information on students and teachers is available in Carberry Plains: Century One.
Custodial history
Records have been presented to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1988 by the Carberry Plains Museum, which received accession 1988.276 from Blanche Williamson of Carberry, Manitoba, in 1989 by the Beautiful Plains School Division, in 1990 by persons unknown, in 1997 by Barbara Maud Carmichael Knapp, formerly of Carberry, Manitoba and by Velma Harburn Daws Chilliwack, a former teacher at Castle Hill School.
Scope and content
Collection consists of half-yearly daily attendance registers (1900-1906), transfer slips and daily registers (1931-1966, missing 1932-1937), account book (1963-1967). Black and white photographs show students, teachers, and school (known dates 1928, 1945), Castle Point general store, and water tower. Registers are indexed for students and teachers. Velma H. D. Chilliwack took the photographs in accession 1997.24.
