Biographical history

The parish of Christ Church, Cartwright, was formed in 1889. The first services were held in the town hall, located above Moore`s store. The first church was built in 1893. It was also used as a school houses for many years. The present stone church was built in 1898. It was consecrated that same year on 30 October. The church interior was destroyed by fire in November 1909, the walls, however, remained standing. Many church records, as well as a new organ were lost to the flames. The interior was rebuilt and the church reopened in August, 1910. In 1924, Cartwright was transferred to the Diocese of Brandon.
