Administrative history

The Carberry Masonic Lodge No. 29 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, was established in 1884 by eight Carberry men. Its mandate has been to study ancient Masonic traditions and to raise funds for local charities. It is an affiliate of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba and with other south-west Manitoba lodges. The Carberry Masonic Temple was officially opened in 1964, and the mortgage burning ceremony held in 1970.

Records have been presented to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1989 by persons or agencies unknown.

Fonds consists of coloured photographs showing the mortgage burning ritual.
