Administrative history

The Carberry Collegiate Institute (C.C.I.) was founded in 1955 to educate students between grades nine to twelve. In 1961 and 1971 additions were made to expand services. Its predecessor was the Carberry Public School, which included the high school until expansion was required. Principals have been Richard Buck (1955-1957), Marie McDonald (1957-1959), R. Lavack and A. Gabriel (1959-1960), John Minions (1960-1967), Barry Anderson (1967-1996), Brian Drysdale (1996-2006), Eric Morgan (2006-2007)and Kathy Bjarnason (2007 -). Also known as Carberry Union School.

Custodial history

Records have been presented to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1988 by the [Carberry Plains Museum], and by Dorothy Reynolds of Carberry, in 1989 by persons unknown, in 1990 by Heather Mitchell of Carberry, by Beulah Sear of Carberry, and by the C.C.I., and in 1991 and 1993 by persons unknown. The 2000 and 2007.01 presentations were by the C.C.I.,and the 2007.09 presentations were donated anonymously; 2007.14 was donated by the Carberry Library; 2007.21 was donated by CCI Student Council

Scope and content

Fonds consists of C.C.I. yearbooks (1956-57, 1958-59, 1959-1976,1976-77,1977-78, 1987-88, 1988-89, 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1997-98 & 1998-99 & 2003-03), "Collegian" high school yearbook (1938-1939), the "Collegiate Echoes", a hand-written high school student newspaper (1929, 1934, 1944), "Carberry High School Outlook" booklet (1921). Four black and white photographs and seven coloured photographs show graduating classes (1972, 1989) and hockey teams ([1974]). 2007.21 consists of the CCI Student Council Constitution and minutes of Council meetings from 1965 to 1973, 1982 to 1989 and 1996 to 2002.
