Administrative history

The Carberry and District Horticultural Society was founded in 1968 to sponsor an annual horticultural show, to assist the community in planting public gardens, to promote gardening in general, and to sponsor invited speakers. Services are offered to citizens in the Carberry Plains area. In 1974 a Junior Garden Program was begun. In 2003, the Society experienced difficulty continuing and a new executive was elected to help; this new executive attempted to carry on, but found it impossible to keep up the same activities as before. In 2005, the Society changed its name to the Carberry Garden Club, but ceased most of its former activities. In 2007, the Garden Club decided to change focus and concentrate on fund-raising to support larger projects in the community, for example, the Carberry Daylily Garden.

Custodial history

Records have been transferred in 1988 from the Carberry Plains Museum who received them from the Society, and presented in 1990,1991,2003 & 2006 by the Society directly.
