Camp Hughes School #2009 was founded in [19-?] to educate children of militia trainees and citizens working in the camp support services. When the [school] district was formed ([19-?]-1958), the school itself was run by an Official Trustee from the Department of Education in Winnipeg. Prior to 1942 the children were taken to Derry School near Douglas, then to Summerville, and later to Carberry, all in south-west Manitoba. Further information is unknown.

Custodial history

Records have been presented to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1989 by persons unknown.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of 7 daily registers of Camp Hughes School (1936-1938, 1940-1941, 1943-1947). Registers are indexed for students and teachers.
