Biographical history

Little is known about the original owner of this album, although it is assumed to be the Angus Cameron whose name is inscribed inside the front cover of the album and who features in many of the photographs found inside. The photographer's imprints indicate that many of the photographs were taken in Lucknow, Ontario and it is likely that members of Mr. Cameron's family lived there. Mr. Cameron himself appears to have been a well traveled individual as he features in photographs taken in Lucknow (Ontario), Edinborough (Scotland) and Aberdeen (North Dakota). He also appears in a photograph with a group of men in what seems to be an orange grove.

Custodial history

The album accompanied a donation to the Dugald Costume Museum in 1987 several items of clothing and other artifacts by Mrs. P. Cameron of Winnipeg. It is likely that she and her husband were relatives of the album's original owner.

Scope and content

This album (designated A-15) contains 18 leaves with openings to insert 64 Cabinet Card photographs and 12 Cartes de Visites (for a total of 76 photographs). Eighty-six photographs were found in the album dating from ca.1880-1915.
