Name of creator
The donor's grandmother, Isabella Adam Sime [?], was married to William Allan in Edinburgh in July of 1886. Isabella and William had nine children, including the donor's mother, Janet (b.1893). Isabella died around 1910 of multiple sclerosis at age 46. Janet Allan married Bill Bull in February of 1918 and came to Canada in 1920, settling in Winnipeg. They had two children, a son Allan who died in 1928 and a daughter, Irene. Bill died in 1974 and Janet died in 1988. Irene died in 1990.
These items were brought to the Dugald Costume Museum by M.I. Campbell of Winnipeg at the request of Irene Bull in 1990.
Scope and content
Items include: a carte de visite portrait bust of an unidentified woman, ca.1878; a carte de visite portrait of a woman, ca.1865, identified as Mrs. Thomas Swan and standing full length; a cabinet card portrait of a woman, ca.1882, identified as Willumine Maitland Swan and seated on a studio wall.
