Name of creator
The Brotherhood of the Cross was created by The Rev. Tomkins in August of 1927 and focused on serving the Pastoral needs of the Interlake area where there were no ordained Anglican ministers. The Rev. H.R. Ragg was the first Warden. Until 1936, all members were Parish priests. St. Andrew's Rectory in St. Andrews, MB became the headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Cross when the laity was allowed membership. It was still in existence in 1946, but there is no record of when The Brotherhood of the Cross finally disbanded.
The records of the Brotherhood of the Cross came to the archives as part of several transfers of records in 1984 and 1997.
Scope and content
The records of the Brotherhood of the Cross held at the Diocese of Rupert's Land archives include minutes and agendas (1927 â 1941) and reference material (1927 â 1946).
