History

The British Methodist Mission existed in Winnipeg from 1909 to 1914. Originally organized in August 1909 by Rev. T. H. Slater, the British Methodist Mission was located in a hall at 255 Princess Street. The Missionary Board of the Methodist Church financially assisted the British Mission by paying the rent on the hall. Rev. Slater was assisted in the mission by Mr. T. J. Clark, a local preacher from England, and other Methodist ministers including: Rev. J. Woodsworth, Dr. A. Stewart, Dr. J. Woodsworth, Rev. J. C. Walker, and Dr. W. A. Cooke.
